AED 101
An Automated External Defibrillatoris a little, cartable machine that analyzes heart rhythms for any flaws and, if prudent , advises the rescuer to deliver an electrical shock to the heart of an SCA sufferer. This shock , termed defibrillation, may allow the heart to regain a normal rhythm .
An Automated External Defibrillator employs voice prompts to direct the rescuer . Once the machine is turned on , the trained help will be advised to apply the 2 pads that come with the Automated External Defibrillator to the victim’s chest. Once in position, the AED will begin to monitor the sufferer’s heart rhythm. If a “shockable” rhythm is discovered , the unit will charge itself and advise the rescuer to steer clear of the victim and to press the shock button.
An AED is hard wired to teach rescuers exactly what needs to be done, employing voice and visual prompts . Rescuers place sticky electrode pads on the person’s chest. Through these electrodes, the Automated External Defibrillator is built to automatically determine the electrical activity of the heart to determine if a “shockable” rhythm exists.
Whether you expeience an Sudden Cardiac Arrest at work or in the Hospital Emergency Room , defibrillation is THE best treatment.
